Artistic Background

Since completing a Bachelor of Visual Art in Illustration at Griffith University, I have focussed more on the education of art, having worked as an art educator in schools for the past ten years. Teaching is a great way to instil a passion in others and to keep myself passionate about my own work.

While I do enjoy engaging with my students, I appreciate the solitude of painting. I find drawing comes more naturally to me than painting. However, I feel it is the process of painting that brings my drawings to life.

I try and keep my designs simple, reduce it back to the simplicity we experience in childhood. I love seeing the reaction of children when viewing my work. One child commenting to his mother after viewing the painting, 'Boy with Cumulonimbus', 'Look Mum, Boy with Cucumber- bus!'
