This series of paintings are based on fond childhood memories; the joy of playing in an above ground pool, staging tea parties, tin can phones, dressing up... But these memories become abstract the more time passes. They have become fragments in my subconscious. I like to reflect on those quiet moments of melancholy where the mind takes you out of your immediate existence into a place which is quiet and calm. I don't see these moments of melancholy depressing but as a way to consider who we are.
